If you're a business person, then this is the place to make money. And, to serve the travellers' needs there are many new and well appointed hotels and guest houses, many of which are 'little oasis' and a welcoming escape from the hectic and often jumbled lifestyle of the towns. However, if you're a tourist on your way to Angola or the Northern Kunene region you could take this route and also enjoy the local tourist attractions and places of interest such as the Etaka Dam, The Baobab Tree at Ombalantu, The Ongulugombashe Monument, Uukwaluudi Royal Household Museum, The Nakambale Museum, Onankali Trust and the Tulogeni Craft Market. You'll see plenty of Makalani Palms alongside the road, but still keep your eyes carefully on the road, because in this part of Namibia you'll find plenty of livestock wandering around on them.
You'll see Ngumi cattle with their distinctive horns grazing alongside the road, and I came across the above young salesman who was selling this large traditional storage basket that the locals use as 'mahango (corn) pantries'
